Marquis Rorro
September 2, 2000- May 15, 2010
When we brought Marquis home, the first things he did was to survey his house, got a bite to eat, got a drink of water then he went to the door and "knocked" to go outside. He has done that ever since then.
At that time, Sheila was four years old and Angel was two. Sheila fell madly in love with him and within three weeks she went into heat, which was completely out of her cycle. Angel, on the other hand, was not too thrilled with having a younger puppy since she had been the only puppy for the past two years. She never did anything to hurt him but she refused to get close to him for several months. When she did come around, they became the best of friends.
Marquis has always attracked attention every where he goes. He is the easiest dog to live with and his has the most wonderful temperment. He has an easy care coat and until he was four years old, we only had to brush him for about 15 minutes every few weeks.
As you can see from the pictures, Marquis loves puppies. He would bark at any car he did not like the sound of when puppies were around. He is very smart and intelligent and a all around great sheepdog.
We have shown Marquis a lot in his life. Every show we have ever taken him to, people come up to us and want to take his picture and pat him. On August 30, 2007 we won Best of Breed at a show here in Maine. Marquis was at his best and the judge knew that he was the best dog there. I had never seen Marquis want something so much in his entire life.
All of Marquis' puppies have the wonderful temperment and are absolutely gorgeous. He has puppies that have become champions in Agility, the show ring and the sport of DVG. Most of all, everyone who has gotten a Marquis puppy has always thanked us over and over for bringing their puppy into their lives. Marquis is a granddaddy and great grandaddy and they all have his wonderful temperment.
I cannot imagine my life without him. He loves to sit up in my lap. He never hurts me but we have bonded like I have never bonded with any other dog in my life. He can be very pushy and stubborn but he is also a big lover. Briards are known to be "big hearts wrapped in fur" and that is so true especially with my Marquis Rorro.
Marquis passed away in May and we miss him very much. He was a great sheep dog and so wonderful to live with. Always happy and loving with a big smile on his face. He left behind a lot of himself in his puppies but all of them together, even though they are wonderful themselves, would not equal one Marquis Rorro.
