Ornette Angela born July 30,1998 died January 20, 2009
Angel was one of the best sheep dogs anyone could ever have. Not only was she beautiful but she was brave, fearless and a wonderful protector. At the same time, she had the best temperment. She loved everyone.
When she was a puppy, she would stand outside and bark in different tones to make it sound like there was more than one dog out. She watched out for our chickens and when this big hawk decided to come around and scope them out, Angel was right there to let it know not to mess with her chickens or else.
When we were raising pigs, one of them got out of the pen and I believe it was Barney, (he really reminded me of Barney Rubble from the Flinstones. We also had Fred and he looked like Fred) we tried for more than an hour to catch this piglet but with no luck. We then decided to put Angel on the job, which we should have done in the first place. John said,"Angel, is that pig out of his pen?" Within a few seconds Angel touched that pigs snout and cornered him and John picked up the piglet and back into the pen he went.
Angel was also a therapy dog. She knew to be easy and gentle with the elderly. She was great. She also loved babies. One time a neighbor stopped by with his daughter. Angel saw that baby and kissed her whole face. Never hurting her of course. The baby had no idea what to make of her and started to cry. Angel looked shocked. We had to explain to her that it was nothing she did and she was a very good girl.
She had three litters with Marquis Rorro her boyfriend. After their third mating, Angel went and found an egg, brought it back and put it ever so gently in front of him for him to eat. Marquis loves eggs. It was beautiful.
Angel's puppies have excelled in everything from the show ring to agility, obedience training to the 2009 DVG National Championship where her puppy was the only Briard, in the history of the sport, in the U.S., to obtain the title VPG 1 in the sport. And the only Briard to ever place in the nationals.
We do sorely miss you, our beloved Angel!!! You are and always will be in our hearts.
